Droichead Arts Centre to Host Major Artist Leonard Sheil
One of Ireland’s foremost artists Leonard Sheil will unveil his latest collection of work “Sea Change” in Droichead Arts Centre on Thurs, 29th June, 7.30pm. Sheil has always been inspired by the sea, from the time of his first major work accompanying the travel writer Tim Severin on a voyage around the Spice Islands of Indonesia right up to the present day. Not content to just observe and paint, he often incorporates many different elements into his works, which enriches and adds to their layered physicality.
Drogheda with its historic river Boyne, port and estuary will be a fitting venue for his latest exhibition, which reinforces Sheil’s view of the sea as an ever changing, but permanent force that reflects his journey as an artist. Whether working thorough the medium of drawing, paint, plaster or wax, Sheil continues to surprise and grow as artist, reinforcing his reputation as one of Ireland’s most exciting artists.
“Sea Change” will open to the public in Droichead Arts Centre, Stockwell St on Thurs, 29th June, 7.30pm and will remain on view until Sat, 12th August. As always all are welcome to the opening
